Showcasing at the 100% Design South Africa pavilion at Decorex Cape Town, visitors can expect ultra-unusual design creations in furniture, textile, ceramics and even floral.
A first for Decorex Cape Town, Fabric Trend Bar will bring vibrant colours, textures, patterns and styles that will illuminate Cape Town’s high-end fabric suppliers who will get the chance to display trending materials. For visitors looking to refurbish or incorporate modern décor trends, this feature is a must-see.
Decorex Cape Town has launched this exclusive pavilion as a way to showcase the design heart of the iconic Mother City through some of her best designers in the M&O Design Pavilion. This pavilion supports influential African design, providing a platform to showcase signature talent and style.
The vibrant characters behind the Decorex brand will give visitors to this year’s Decorex Cape Town a glimpse behind the curtain as they select their favourite décor items from Elevenpast in the #withlovefromdecorexsa feature. Featuring twice a day is a bold addition to the Decorex Cape Town features’ programme – a uniquely formulated fashion show that depicts the mutual influence of fashion and décor, 2nd Skin. Students from the renowned Inscape Fashion Design Group will re-purpose construction materials into captivating fashion items modelled at the exhibition.
For those with a love of all things literary, Decorex Cape Town has launched this cosy nook that invites visitors to immerse themselves in magazines, autobiographies and designer coffee table books focused on décor, music, fashion, design, cooking, lifestyle and television in The Library.
Forming an important extension of the interior décor tone, landscaping styles- and the design mavens responsible for some of Cape Town’s best outdoor settings – will form the central focus of this new installation, The Landscapers. Visitors will get to learn all about leading landscape artists from various regions in and around the Mother City.
Cutting-edge landscaping and the latest in outdoor trends will make an impact in this organic feature that promotes sustainability during tough environmental conditions. The Garden of the Future will introduce visitors to eco-friendly gardening solutions and innovative décor ideas that extend the interior into the outdoors.
Perfectly in sync with the ‘Designing for Africa – feels like home’ theme is Cape Town’s own Danela Conti Bryant, who is ready to take her rightful place as this year’s Decorex Designer Spotlight. Drawing on her signature stylish flair and fusing her African-focused design ethos for 2019, Danela will create an on-trend room setting that incorporates organic textures, pastel tones and African wax prints.
A visual representation of urban décor trends for 2019 will be dramatically displayed in five individual apartment settings in The Apartment Project by SHF.
Sintered surfaces, task lighting and interior/exterior kitchen designs are some of the interesting design trends visitors can look forward to in this popular annual feature, Kitchen Design Project by The Studio Collection. Bringing in a selection of Cape Town’s leading artisans and suppliers, the Kitchen Design Project will showcase their individual interpretations of the show’s annual theme.
The year’s leading kitchen trends will, once again, be realised in a contemporary installation by one of Cape Town’s most in-demand kitchen manufacturers Space Interiors in the Trend Kitchen. Curved cabinetry, sleek styles and storage-enhancing techniques are some of the trade secrets set to be revealed in the 2019 Trend Kitchen.
Working with the dynamic team from Sevens Designs, Decorex Creative Director, Anita Bloom will bring her favourite 2019 décor and design trends to life in the Decorex Urban Living Trend House by Sevens. Global trends including Surface Tactility, Abstract Art and Gen-Z Yellow will be cleverly re-worked into a uniquely South African home space.
Comfort and personalised décor preferences will be realised in the Bedroom Project that sees Cape Town designers and furniture manufacturers – including Aura Furniture & Décor, Lalegno – creating various bedroom spaces including a cityscape penthouse, contemporary apartment, industrial-designed studio, bush lodge, hotel room and farm-style bedroom. These will be interlinked by the show’s theme, ‘Designing for Africa – feels like home’.
Artisanal lighting, sustainability and the strive for minimalism are some of the enlightening trends visitors will be exposed to in the Lighting Project by Fundi Light & Living. Overseen by leading light manufacturer, Wire World, this illuminating installation will depict the transformative impact of lighting on space, mood and tone.
When it comes to home refurbishment, interior designers are re-working bathrooms from a space of mere functionality to quality and comfort. Cape Town’s top bathroom suppliers – WOMAG included – will get the chance to showcase a range of on-trend features such as walk-in showers, mosaic tiles and large mirrors that transform any bathroom into a retreat of urban sophistication in the Bathroom Project.
The Children’s Playroom & Decor Project will give parents and would-be parents a really beautiful view into the world of modern boho designs, large-scale wallprints and Scandinavian design trends that make up the modern children’s playroom.
