The African continent is positioning itself as a global style icon, fusing the influences of international trend-makers with the unique colour and vibrancy that characterises its people and cultures. The impact of this colourful continent on the 2019 lifestyle trends will be brought home through the features and products showcasing at Africa’s biggest décor and design exhibition – Decorex SA. Consisting of Decorex Durban, Decorex Cape Town and Decorex Joburg, this year’s much-anticipated theme ‘Designing for Africa – feels like home’ encapsulates the re-birth of the African style powerhouse.
African style and homegrown comforts influence the Decorex SA 2019 theme
Drawing on its position as Africa’s largest décor, design and lifestyle exhibition, Decorex SA has unveiled the 2019 show theme that will inspire and unite visitors, designers and industry leaders – ‘Designing for Africa – feels like home’.
While mustards and earthy yellows still have a place in home decor, the newest yellow is a vibrant hue called “Gen Z yellow.” Some are saying that it is a replacement of Millennial Pink.
Creative Director for Decorex SA, Anita Bloom, shares her MUST HAVE items for spring 2018.
“My work has always been about gorgeous design with a twist of something unique,” explained Bloom. “I truly believe that if you do what you love, you will succeed in whatever field you choose.”
It’s #BreastCancerAwareness Month which aims to create awareness and raise funds for Breast Cancer.
This year our chosen charity was PinkDrive – they were involved in the new She Shed feature where top designers from around the country were tasked with transforming a traditional outdoor shed into the ultimate women’s haven incorporating different shades of pink.
