While mustards and earthy yellows still have a place in home decor, the newest yellow is a vibrant hue called “Gen Z yellow.” Some are saying that it is a replacement of Millennial Pink.
Yellow. It’s a disruptive thing, isn’t it? The Beatles sang about it. In nature, when paired with black, it means danger. In Japan, it often represents courage; in Russia, a psychiatric hospital is known as a ‘yellow house’. And yet it also represents sunshine, happiness and spring. The acid smiley face is the colour’s DNA. (Source: Elle.com)
Yellow is not a colour that’s trended much in recent years compared to other colours. Pink has had more of a moment, even garnering its own nickname – Millennial Pink. Blue was popular several years ago, too, and now, its yellow’s turn.
Add the yellow in small doses – paint it on a door! OR paint a feature wall for a go big or go home effect OR tone it down with a calmer hue of yellow.
