Decorex Durban 2017 boasts exciting new features suited to all ages and tastes. The award-winning exhibition runs from 18 to 21 March at the Durban Exhibition Centre.
Certain to be one of the most entertaining features at Decorex Durban, is The Gourmet Cooking Theatre, which will provide fun home-entertaining talks and cooking demos by a host of engaging local chefs, all presented from a beautiful purpose-built kitchen.
The theatre will host some of the best chefs, foodies, bakers, creators and barristers South Africa has to offer.
Join the established sister duo Zainab and Faatimah from Chilli Chocolate Chefs at our Gourmet Cooking Theatre on Sunday 18 March. The sister act, who have over 15 years’ experience under their belt, will entice you with their distinctive cuisine which can only be described as glamourous, comforting and supremely delicious!
Come and watch previous MasterChef South Africa Finalist, Lungile Nhlanhla from Lungi’s Corner take the stage at our Gourmet Cooking Theatre on 20 and 21 March. Lungi is an inspiring and established chef and foodie in the hospitality, fashion & media industry and comes with a wealth of knowledge and experience. Not only is she the Head Chef for Classique Braai Lounge but she has also worked as a Food Editor for various publications in South Africa.
Inspiring chef and owner of cooking school Back2Basics KZN and newly opened South Coast bistro Fourwalls, Wally Linda, will be cooking up a storm at our Gourmet Cooking Theatre on Saturday 18 March. Wally believes that “food made with passion always tastes good” – come experience her kiff & cool food!
The upbeat red lipstick and sneaker-wearing sister duo Delish Sisters will be joining us at the Gourmet Cooking Theatre this Saturday and Sunday. Their goal: to change the way that people think about food. Come and experience new flavours, ingredients, textures, beautiful presentation and essentially food as an ‘experience’.
Charlie Lakin – 9th Avenue Bistro
Michelin Star award-winning chef, Charlie Lakin will be joining us this weekend at Decorex Durban in the Gourmet Cooking Theatre. Originally from Northern England, Charlie has been in South Africa for only a year and is heading up 9th Avenue Bistro as Head Chef. Charlie has appeared in two seasons of The Great British Menu, The Olympics and The Comic Relief series. Visitors will get to experience his mastery in the kitchen for themselves.
Craig Charity – Lineage Coffee
Craig Charity, award-winning barista and owner of Lineage Coffee, has been in the game for over 10 years and will be brewing some incredible coffees this weekend for all caffeine lovers. Craig is the 2013 South African Barista Champion and has competed in the 2014 World Barista Championships, where he was placed 15th in the world. Catch him in the Gourmet Cooking Theatre Saturday – Monday at 11am.
